Event Recap: Webster Bank Virtual Job Shadow Day

Sacred Heart University’s Center for Career & Professional Development teamed up with the Office of Alumni Engagement to bring students a virtual job shadow day with Webster Bank, which took place on Monday, July 27, 2020. Coordinated by Alice Ferreira ‘91, Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs, the day focused on connecting SHU students with a variety of professionals working in the communications field. Students were able to hear about the professionals’ career journeys, what they do in their role at Webster Bank, as well as advice for entering the field of communications.  

Students were able to speak with Elaine Ficarra (Vice President, External Communications), Barbara DeBisschop (Vice President, Corporate Affairs), Eric Simpson (Vice President, Content Marketing), Kelly Raskauskas (Vice President, External Communications), Danielle Carpenter (Vice President, Brand Marketing), Heidi McGrath (Vice President, Brand Manager), Elisa Funteral (Social Media Manager), David Gunn (Senior Designer), and Cara Kacin (Vice President, Creative Services). 

Student were also able to hear from several SHU alumni that are now working at Webster Bank, including Julie Zelno ‘96 (Vice President, Internal Communications), Brooke McGreen ‘19 (Rotational Analyst on the Commercial Lending/Credit Risk Track), Caroline Flynn ‘19 (Rotational Analyst on the Commercial Lending/Credit Risk Track), and Carlos Rivera ’01, ‘03 (Vice President, Marketing, Strategy and Operations). 

This virtual event allowed both undergraduate and graduate SHU students to network and learn more about the communications industry as well as hear valuable advice about entering the workforce.
