Event Recap: Big Four Meet & Greet

On Thursday, September 3rd, the Center for Career & Professional Development, in collaboration with each of the Big Four accounting firms, held it’s 6th annual Big Four Meet & Greet. This was the first year that this event was held in a virtual format. This event was widely attended, by roughly 50 undergraduate and graduate students, most of which were accounting & finance majors.

The first portion of this event, was a short presentation put on by Mike Twerago, Director in the Center for Career & Professional Development. This presentation covered some important dates, basic information about the Big Four firms, as well as a walk through of the structured recruiting cycle for these firms.

The next half-hour of this event, consisted of an alumni panel, where each firm chose a Sacred Heart alumni who currently works for the firm to represent them. The alumni who made up this panel were:

Deloitte – Anthony Gomes (’12 & ’13) – Audit Manager
Ernst & Young – Erlain Fleurinord (’18) – Audit Assurance
KPMG – Tucker Hackett (’16 & ’17) – Senior Audit Assurance
PricewaterhouseCoopers – Kevin Lauretti (’09) – Tax Director

Some questions the panelists answered, moderated by Mike Twerago, revolved around how they prepared for the recruiting and interview processes, tips and advice on studying for the CPA exam, some resume builders the students could look into, as well as a typical day on the job.

The final hour of the session was hosted by each of the Big Four firms, with each having a 15-20 minute brief presentation and performing a Q & A with the students.

This event is typically held the same time each academic year, in preparation for the Finance & Accounting Career Forum, as well as in advance of the Fall on-campus interviews that the firms hold for summer full-time roles & internships.
