Student Quote:
“As an alumni of Sacred Heart University with a degree in Health Science and minors in Biology, Chemistry, and Global Health I have spent the past four years preparing myself to make a difference within the global community. Although the circumstances in today’s world are not ideal, as a previous heath science student I was eager to begin implement my education during the COVID-19 Pandemic. My hope was and still is that when we recover from COVID-19, I will come out of it knowing that I was able to work solidarity with medical providers to create breakthroughs, through small acts of kindness, while also creating a lasting difference in someone’s life. Leading up to my graduation from Sacred Heart University, I was given an opportunity to work on the frontlines of the COVID-19 Pandemic as an Emergency Trauma Technician at Lawrence General Hospital, a level II trauma center located in a Lawrence, Massachusetts. As an emergency trauma technician I am responsible for obtaining and documenting vital signs and EKGs, utilizing and providing patient instruction for splints and other orthopedic equipment, responding to codes, trauma stats and trauma alerts, and demonstrating competent responsiveness to frequent critical situations while simultaneously effectively dealing with patients, families & co-workers. This position along with my previous education has allowed me to successfully prepare for the next chapter in my life, which is to obtain a dual master’s degree in Public Health and Physicians Assistance. 2020 has been a very important year for me, as it has been a year of both personal and professional growth. I am grateful for the opportunities that have allowed me to continue to pursue my passion.”
