Sacred Heart University’s Jack Welch College of Business & Technology (WCBT) has again been named one of the best undergraduate business schools in the nation by Poets&Quants for Undergrads, an online source for business education news.
While hundreds of schools completed surveys to be considered for the annual rankings, only 95 institutions made the 2022 list.
Accredited by both the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business and the New England Commission of Higher Education, the WCBT prepares its students for success in the global business environment through student-focused teaching and experiential learning. Programs in growing fields such as business analytics, finance, marketing and sales lead students to varied careers.
“We are honored to be recognized among the very best business schools in the country by Poets&Quants,” said WCBT Acting Dean Michael Larobina. “At WCBT, our business and technology students hone the crucial skills they need to become strong leaders in an ever-changing world through innovative and engaged faculty and staff, the power of our newly renovated West Campus and a comprehensive educational experience.”
West Campus, SHU’s center of innovation, is the revamped former global headquarters of General Electric. Its state-of-the-art facilities include a large makerspace called the IDEA Lab, as well as dedicated cybersecurity, finance and artificial intelligence labs. The School of Computer Science & Engineering, integrated within the business college, offers undergraduate programs in fields such as game design and development, cybersecurity, electrical engineering and more.
Students involved with the WCBT do internships at a wide array of companies, including Food Network Magazine, Goldman Sachs, General Electric, NBC Sports & Olympics and New York Life Insurance Company. Students can also intern with start-ups located in the West Campus iHub, a large co-working facility created via a strategic partnership with Verizon.
The WCBT places great emphasis on globalization. Each business major has specialized international and global coursework and opportunities to study abroad at the WCBT’s Luxembourg campus.
Poets&Quants based its 2022 ranking on a survey of more than 5,400 alumni and reported data compiled from 95 schools. Factors that determined these rankings included faculty availability, extracurricular opportunities and accessibility of the alumni network.
