Art is an expansive field comprised of multiple disciplines, ranging from illustration to music, graphic design to digital media. A career in the art industry will offer uniquely fulfilling opportunities to share the power of creative expression with others. The Art and Design department at SHU prepares students to become artists and designers who are knowledgeable, educated, compassionate, responsive to social and civic obligations, and able to respond to an ever-changing world. Graduates can find many different careers in the art industry, including animation, illustration, graphic design, and museum curation. Many art and design careers also include a business aspect, such as marketing or advertising.

The media industry is made up of many different industries, that all focus on sharing information and creating mediated content. This includes traditional media content such as broadcasting (television and radio), print (newspapers, magazines, books), film, as well as entertainment content (recorded music, social media, gaming) and cultural content (performing arts). Jobs that are commonly available in media include positions for journalists, broadcasters, producers, and content creators. The media industry is considered to be a powerful tool if properly used, as it can be used to influence masses of people.

A degree in sport management allows students to pursue entry-level positions with recreational, collegiate, and professional sports organizations. Most students in sport management programs plan on working in athletics after graduation; however, the core business competencies they learn in the program prepare them for careers in other industries, as well. Many different subjects are incorporated into sport management such as administration, finance, law and ethics. There are many different aspects of sport management. Sports finance is a billion-dollar industry. Individuals who are interested in the financial and economic aspects of the world of sports might consider focusing their studies on finance and related subjects. Similarly, sport managers who want to work for international sports organizations should take courses like international marketing.

The entertainment industry includes many sub-industries devoted to entertainment. The term entertainment is often used in mass media to describe the companies that control the distribution and manufacture mass media entertainment. Entertainment includes diverse products and services including motion pictures, television, music, broadcasting, print media, gaming, sports, and fine arts. Individuals working in the entertainment industry may find themselves in production, talent management, design, content creation, and editing.
