Camp Walden is a co-ed, ACA accredited, residential summer camp in the Adirondack Mountains. We are located on more than 100 beautiful lakeside acres, just 10 miles from Lake George, NY. For over 90 years our campers have enjoyed a rich array of athletic, waterfront, adventure and arts activities taught by highly experienced specialists while forming lifelong friendships in a fun, exciting, and safe environment.

We are hiring for the summer of 2024. Positions include: counselors, sport specialists, art specialists, adventure staff, and waterfront staff.
General counselors will be responsible for caring for children aged 7-16. Sports specialist are responsible for instructing children. Available sports positions include tennis, football, lacrosse, gymnastics, strength and conditioning, hockey, basketball, softball and baseball. Outdoor adventure roles include ropes course, go carts, archery and hiking. Arts specialists roles include general crafts, ceramics and woodworking. We are also looking for lifeguards and waterfront staff (we provide lifeguard training on site) to drive boats and supervise boating and swimming.
Duties involve supervising and coaching assigned campers throughout the day; from early morning to late evenings which includes during wake-up, clean up, at activities, meals, evening program and bedtime. Every staff member will work as part of a larger team to mentor and be role models to their assigned campers (there are usually 3-4 staff members sleeping in every bunk). The hours are long but this will undoubtedly be one of the most fun and rewarding jobs you will ever have! The anticipated salary range for this position is between $2150 and $3800 for the term depending on year in college and/or graduate status. All housing, food, meals and laundry service will be provided.

What Makes You Qualified: The ideal candidate is someone who:
● has experience or is eager to gain experience working with children.
● has completed at least their freshman year in college.
● is pursuing or has graduated with degrees in education, social work, psychology or coaching.
● empathic, hard-working, flexible, patient, nurturing, inclusive, kind and possess excellent judgment and decision-making skills.
● is a non-smoker, non-vaper, and willing to abstain from alcohol consumption.
Additional Requirements:
● all applicants will be required to provide contact information for at least 3 professional references which may include current or former employers, high school teachers or coaches, or college professors. References may not be family members or personal friends.
● all hired candidates must submit a nationwide background check (which will be paid for by Camp Walden) and be verified against both the National and the NY State Sex Offender Registries.
● all hired candidates who are not currently authorized to work in the US must obtain a J-1 visa (we will provide agency contacts in this process).
● every staff member will be required to participate in a 10 day to two-week pre-camp leadership training
