DEPUTY HOUSING CODE ENFORCEMENT
DEPARTMENT: LIVABLE CITY INITIATIVE
SALARY: $72,118 – $113,041 ANNUALIZED
REMOVAL DATE: SEPTEMBER 24, 2021
This is responsible administrative and supervisory work under the direct supervision of the Executive Director of the Livable City Initiative (LCI). Work involves the responsibility for administering and supervising the activities of housing and zoning code enforcement for LCI with some latitude for the exercise of independent judgement and is reviewed through conferences and evaluation of results. Work also involves the responsibility for administering and supervising, via an independent contract, Section-8 inspections as needed by the Housing Authority of the City of New Haven.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS include:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in business administration, urban development or public health, and at least 5 years of experience in administration, housing code, zoning enforcement regulations, including at least 3 years at a supervisory level, or equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills; as stated in the job description, including but not limited to: Thorough knowledge of the principles of public health practices; Thorough knowledge of the principles and procedures of building inspection; Thorough knowledge of State and local zoning practices and regulations; Thorough knowledge of building and housing regulations on both a State and municipal level; Considerable knowledge of building and housing regulations on both a State and municipal level; Considerable knowledge of construction principles and techniques.
