Internship Opportunities at Friends Center for Children: Emotional Well-Being
Friends Center for Children welcomes students who are studying human relationships, child development, human service professions, and early childhood education (programs, policies and advocacy).
We are an early childhood learning center which serves children ages 3 months to 5 years in our infant/toddler and preschool classrooms. We are a non-profit community that intentionally bridges racial, ethnic and economic divides. Our child-centered program focuses on learning and growth in all areas, including social, emotional, cognitive and physical.
Friends Center for Children is a non-sectarian early childhood center, based in the values of the Quaker founders’ traditions: simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality and stewardship. We believe these values are universal and steadfast, fortifying the human spirit and improving the human condition.
Our Emotional Well-Being program is infused in the daily operations of Friends Center. The purpose of the program is to increase awareness of the importance of social and emotional skill development in our educational setting – for families, staff and community. Interns have the opportunity to work as part of our Emotional Well-Being team by serving as members of classroom teaching teams, supporting a warm and welcoming climate for the children and families we serve. The supervisory team consists of a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and two professionals with Master of Human Service degrees.
