George Street Playhouse, seeks an experienced and artist-focused Assistant Production Manager to join our team for our 21/22 season at our new home in residence at the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center.
Ideal candidate will have basic knowledge of Production Management. Applicant should have good organizational skills and the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects at once. Applicant must be an enthusiastic “can-do” team player who can think on their feet and demonstrates grace under pressure. Applicant should have basic knowledge of technical theater and production scheduling. This position plays a key role in executing the Artistic Director’s vision to provide a welcoming and world-class home in which artists are free to do their best work.
Main responsibilities include: assisting with production budget tracking and department payroll, developing production calendars and production related paperwork, assisting in facilitating communication between designers, production departments, and stage managers, assisting stage management teams with rehearsal prep, rehearsal notes, and moving from rehearsal room to the stage.
This position works closely with the education department and their production needs for their educational touring companies and various academy classes. Position will also play a major role in assisting with a newly developing production internship program.
This position is expected to attend all tech rehearsals and production meetings.
Strong computer skills especially proficiency with MS Office is required. Experience with AutoCAD and Vectorworks is a plus. Experience working in a union employment environment and familiarity with IATSE, USA and AEA agreements is preferred.
Hands-on theatrical production experience is also required.
Evening, weekend, and early morning hours will be required. Occasional physically demanding work, such as lifting and moving equipment will be required. A valid driver’s license and proof of Covid-19 Vaccination is required.
An integral member of the Production Team, this position reports to the Production Manager, works closely with the General Manager, and plays a key role in implementing the vision of the Artistic Director.
