Overview
We are looking for highly motivated and detail-oriented students to join the Digital Technology Services (DTS) Internship program for the summer of 2025.
The program will run from June 2nd, 2025 through August 22nd, 2025 and is open to students who are rising juniors, rising seniors, or those working on a graduate degree.
During the summer, you will experience what it is like to work in healthcare IT within a large healthcare network. Each intern will work with a designated team within DTS and duties will vary based on that assignment. Opportunities will be available in areas such as:
- Clinic Informatics
- Data and Analytics
- Applications and Integration
- Security and Access Management
- Asset Management
- Project Management
- IT Support
- Operations and Process Improvement
- IT Leadership
Those who pass the first screening will have the opportunity to to identify three areas of interest to be considered for.
This unique opportunity offers things like hands-on experience in a specific area of Digital Technology Services (DTS), guidance from a mentor who is a leader in healthcare IT, exposure and regular interactions with senior leadership, opportunities to learn about healthcare outside of IT, and educational opportunities related to how to thrive and be successful in the workplace.

Recruitment Timeline:
- September 12th – Accepting applications

- Early November thru Mid November – Candidates selected to move forward in the interview process will be notified

Responsibilities
Job responsibilities will vary depending on the assigned team. Core day-to-day responsibilities may include but are not limited to any of the following:
- Perform analysis to understand the user needs.
- Assist in the development and improvement of IT product(s) to meet the user needs.
- Conduct tests and identify errors within the IT product(s).
- Perform maintenance, troubleshooting and debugging with associated IT product(s).
- Help with the software implementations, for example by providing training and support for the staff who will operate the software.
- Participate in security monitoring and incident response services supporting the protection of HMH’s assets, infrastructure and data.
- Perform market research to compare and summarize current market options and develop organizational position statements regarding emerging technologies.
- Consult with vendors, perform research and evaluate products to assist in the selection and purchase of equipment and installation or upgrade of systems.
- Contribute to HMH’s technical documentation and participate in policy, procedure, and standards development.
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Available to work onsite 50% of the time with 50% remote work up to 40 hrs/wk during the program timeframe.
- Maintain open communication and a positive working relationship with team members.
- Maintain professional (business casual) dress and grooming.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Pursuit of a degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, cyber security, advanced mathematics, data science, advanced analytics, clinical informatics, healthcare administration, program management or similar program.
- Current GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Satisfactory customer service skills.
- Basic troubleshooting skills.
- Minimum of 2 years of college or trade school education.
- Minimum of 3 months of IT experience or equivalent formal training with a letter of reference from a previous employer or professor.
