Roles:
-Keep full statistics for the league’s basketball games in real time, just as ESPN and other companies do
-Interview players post game imitating the interviews you see on television
-Appear on-camera after each night’s games reviewing the action and doing some analysis
-Record video in a way that is compelling to viewers (and all of it’s newest features)
-Write feature stories as you would for any company or website that are published online
-Edit and compile game highlights into highlight packages published online
-Edit graphics for social media remotely from pictures taken during the games
Responsibilities:
-Keeping statistics accurately while the basketball game is going on (we will provide training)
-Come up with logical questions for interviews with players
-Record video in real time while the action is taking place
-Write feature stories that tell a story in a way that captures people’s attention
-Use apps like Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook to post videos online
-Use basketball knowledge to understand time and score to relay that info to viewers
Skill Set Required:
-Some prior sports writing experience is highly recommended, but not necessarily required. Applicants may be required to submit a sample of something they have previously written.
-Prior on-camera and filming experience is a plus. Applicants may be required to submit a sample.
-A knowledge of the game of basketball is not required, but will definitely help.
Location:
-Games will be taking place Thursday nights at the Insports Centers (29 Trefoil Drive in Trumbull, CT)
-Games will start on Thursday, December 11th and go through March
-Other post-game duties can be completed anywhere where there is wi-fi.
Compensation:
-This is an internship that students have been able to get school credit for in the past.
